I highly recommend the audible version of this book! It was like listening to a play。 So well done and fun to listen to。

A heart warming story about Jack and his favorite stuffed pig。 When his pig is lost, Jack goes on an adventure to the land of lost things and goes through many adventures to find him。 Along the way he learns some life lessons。 This would be a perfect bedtime book to read to your kids!

I will say I like several stuff of this book, I dislike others and some others I found it interesting to read, specially when I'm reading them in a children book。Since I'm not a child anymore I feel that I didn't enjoy as much, but still is a nice story to read。 I will say I like several stuff of this book, I dislike others and some others I found it interesting to read, specially when I'm reading them in a children book。Since I'm not a child anymore I feel that I didn't enjoy as much, but still is a nice story to read。 。。。more

I really enjoyed the first few chapters of non-magical drama。 Rowling really thrives when it comes to angsty drama, this time involving an awkward newly joined family of divorcées and stepsiblings。 But honestly I wasn’t too intrigued by the over-the-top fantastical world of the Land of the Lost and the entire contrived plot that came with that。 After finishing the book, I understand that the Dur Pig character is a metaphor for the nuclear family that Jack lost, and that Christmas Pig character r I really enjoyed the first few chapters of non-magical drama。 Rowling really thrives when it comes to angsty drama, this time involving an awkward newly joined family of divorcées and stepsiblings。 But honestly I wasn’t too intrigued by the over-the-top fantastical world of the Land of the Lost and the entire contrived plot that came with that。 After finishing the book, I understand that the Dur Pig character is a metaphor for the nuclear family that Jack lost, and that Christmas Pig character represents the different (but still loving) family that he has now, consisting of a new stepdad and stepsister。 Even so, I wish that Rowling had used her creative talents to conjure a story involving more humans as main characters。 Maybe I would have enjoyed the book more if I was a child, or reading aloud to young children, or even celebrated Christmas every year (I’m a Ramadan-Eid kind of gal) - but this one was an “eh” for me。 I guess I’ll wait for her next Cormoran Strike murder mystery!PS Will these trolls stop using this GoodReads page to bash JK Rowling’s controversial views AND REVIEW THE FREAKING ACTUAL BOOK 。。。more

A cute and heartwarming story perfect for reading on cold day while snuggling up in a blanket (preferably with a cup of hot cocoa)。 That said it sometimes felt like a mash up of Toy Story, Inside Out and Alice in Wonderland/The Nutcracker。 For me this kind of made the experience feel a bit shallow。But during the times I could forget about that I was truly a fun read so I'd recommend it nonetheless。 A cute and heartwarming story perfect for reading on cold day while snuggling up in a blanket (preferably with a cup of hot cocoa)。 That said it sometimes felt like a mash up of Toy Story, Inside Out and Alice in Wonderland/The Nutcracker。 For me this kind of made the experience feel a bit shallow。But during the times I could forget about that I was truly a fun read so I'd recommend it nonetheless。 。。。more

It's hard for me to give this a star rating。 Children may be fascinated by it and unable to wait for the next chapter。 I was not。During the reading I had flashbacks to The Velveteen Rabbit, the movie Inside Out, and Toy Story (#3, I think), so there was familiarity。Jo Rowling is an excellent writer and I wish there was a young child in my life so that we could have read it together。 It's hard for me to give this a star rating。 Children may be fascinated by it and unable to wait for the next chapter。 I was not。During the reading I had flashbacks to The Velveteen Rabbit, the movie Inside Out, and Toy Story (#3, I think), so there was familiarity。Jo Rowling is an excellent writer and I wish there was a young child in my life so that we could have read it together。 。。。more

A truly magical book which has it all: friendship, betrayal, and love。 JK has once again done her fabulous world-creating job, making a fully believable universe come to life, no matter how fantastic it might seem。 It's pretty straightforward on some ethic subjects, but it's a children's book, after all。 I just love the way it introduces the reader (the younger one, of course) to some difficult topics。 For a grown-up, it might seem too forced, or too into-your-face, but it has to be done this wa A truly magical book which has it all: friendship, betrayal, and love。 JK has once again done her fabulous world-creating job, making a fully believable universe come to life, no matter how fantastic it might seem。 It's pretty straightforward on some ethic subjects, but it's a children's book, after all。 I just love the way it introduces the reader (the younger one, of course) to some difficult topics。 For a grown-up, it might seem too forced, or too into-your-face, but it has to be done this way at some ages。Personally, I got really emotional about this book。 If you want to make me a sobbing mess, give just any book about kids and toys and see what happens next。 。。。more

Good night jack whispered the little pig, whose tears of happiness were trickling down on the pillow。 Merry Christmas to you too! This is such a cute Christmas story reminds me of the nutcracker❤️ I’m sad jk Rowling is done writing Harry Potter but this is still magical in its own way and I can’t read to read more books from her soon 🤗

What a sweet story of love, sacrifice, hope, and relationships。 There’s a place for lost things and it’s not safe, especially if your a human boy! Jack loses his favorite stuffy and enters a scary, magical world to find him。 Will he make it back in time? Will he find DP? A lovely story with a great message。The black and white drawings are fabulous。

Heartwarming tale of a boy, his beloved toy and the adventures of a lifetime。 Works as both a children's story and on a deeper level for the adults。 Christmas often reminds us of what is important in life, but in The Christmas Pig, Rowling fleshes out examples in the Land of Lost things, that you can't help leave pondering the world and your place in it。 Things aren't always tangible。 How much value do you put into the people and things in your life? The Christmas Pig is a charming adventure and Heartwarming tale of a boy, his beloved toy and the adventures of a lifetime。 Works as both a children's story and on a deeper level for the adults。 Christmas often reminds us of what is important in life, but in The Christmas Pig, Rowling fleshes out examples in the Land of Lost things, that you can't help leave pondering the world and your place in it。 Things aren't always tangible。 How much value do you put into the people and things in your life? The Christmas Pig is a charming adventure and would have had 5 stars if not for the angst-filled beginning, It took more than 30 pages before I decided to stick with it and trust Rowling was going to turn this around。 The boy's experiences up until then were emotionally painful for both the character and the reader。 It seemed like a lot of misery which I can only assume was to set up the emotional climate that would cause a young boy to risk everything to rescue his lost best friend and confidant, his stuffed beanie pig DP。 The pig is reminiscent of the Velveteen Rabbit in his treasured and disheveled appearance, and the adventure of a Toy Story movie with the "Alivening" of toys to talk and embark on journeys for their kid。 Overall, I highly recommend this soon to be classic Christmas story! 。。。more

I LOVE the illustrations。 I spent a long time on each one looking for the individual items in each drawing。 And the pigs made me smile。I read the book in two sittings; one for parts 1 - 7 and then fell asleep (at 3am) so finished part 8 in the morning。 I liked the story plot and the writing。 There is a moral to the tale but it is not overwhelming; I didn't feel like it was hitting me over the head but got many points across。 Although I did not use them, the sections allow for stopping and restar I LOVE the illustrations。 I spent a long time on each one looking for the individual items in each drawing。 And the pigs made me smile。I read the book in two sittings; one for parts 1 - 7 and then fell asleep (at 3am) so finished part 8 in the morning。 I liked the story plot and the writing。 There is a moral to the tale but it is not overwhelming; I didn't feel like it was hitting me over the head but got many points across。 Although I did not use them, the sections allow for stopping and restarting and I can imagine this as bedtime reading for children。 。。。more

She has such an imagination。 This book was fun and suspenseful and imaginative。 I hope she keeps writing for many years to come。 The Santa connection was a tad odd but since it is all based on fiction I will overlook it。
